Jacques M. Brisson, RMT

Jacques is a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy's intensive 2200 hour program and has been a registered massage therapist for 15 years.  His passion for sports, health and fitness are undoubtedly the driving force towards his calling to this profession.  Working out with free weights, playing golf, hockey and baseball, he can relate to the physical and emotional setbacks of injury.

His clinical experience seems to have touched every facet of practice from physiotherapy and chiropractic background, to spa and long term care facilities.  He also worked with the rehab center at the General Hospital in Ottawa on injured military personnel.  Jacques is a very empathetic individual who loves helping people find wellness and balance in this ever increasingly fast paced life.  He strongly believes that synergistically focusing on mind and body is the secret to well being.  What better way to reach this state than through massage, which focuses on all the above mentioned.

A typical treatment would commence with a thorough overview of case history to better assess the patients' needs.  Next would follow specific orthopaedic tests to determine the cause of injury and affected structures.  Swedish massage and it's modalitiesare the primary technique used entailing mostly effleurage and petrissage, origin/insertion muscle work, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, joint play and trigger point therapy,  depending on the injury and course of action.  Communication with the patient throughout the treatment is a must as you are always in control of what pressure and style is being used.  Upon completion of every massage treatment a remedial exercise program is implemented.

Jacques will be commencing training on a myofascial release workshop in March through highly reputable Jenings seminars to further increase his knowledge in the industry. He is also interested in attending workshops on Active-Release techniques this year.  He is fluently bilinqual in French and English.

Jacques and his wife of 5 years have a huge love for dogs and share a home with their pomeranian nammed Fox.
