A doctor is referring me for treatment. How does that work?

If your doctor is recommending you receive IV Treatment, please have them complete the outside referral form.

If you are already a client of the OIHC, your practitioner will complete our in-house referral form.

Referral forms need to be provided 48 hrs before we can book you in for your appointment.

If I have an outside referral, what is the first consultation that I book?

When your referring practitioner has provided all the necessary medical information, you are just required to have a Referred IV Intake Consultation (30min) in advance of your treatment. Please call us to book that at 613-798-1000

I do not have a referral, but I really want to have an IV. What do I do?

If you are not being referred by another practitioner and you are looking to receive IV Treatment, get started with us with an Initial IV Intake Consultation (60min) This will take place on a different day than your IV treatment.

Why do I need to have a consultation before receiving treatment?

In order to receive an IV from an ND in Ontario, you have to be that Doctors patient. The intake consultation allows for review your diagnosis, allergies, past medical history, a physical examination, discussing your goals and setting up your treatment plan. There may be lab work that is required before administering the first IV, so you will receive a requisition to get that done. This ensures that you are receiving the best in quality care.

How long will a treatment take?

IV treatment times will vary based on the condition being treated and the nutrients being prescribed. They range from 30 to 60 min.

How frequently should I come in?

Frequency will be determined by your health status and the treatment goals. Someone who is quite ill will perhaps need to come in more frequently than the client who is looking for an energy boost.
