Physiotherapy-What to expect

During your initial 60 minute visit with our Physiotherapist, you can expect a thorough history to address concerns and discuss your goals of physiotherapy treatment. A physical assessment will be performed to determine the cause(s)  of your concern as well as to determine any limitations regarding muscle activation, range of motion or other soft tissue dysfunctions.  Your physiotherapist will discuss your treatment plan with you based on your physical assessment and personal goals. There will be more than enough time to address any questions you may have in regards to your injury or concern. Loose fitting clothing is recommended.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist is a highly trained, compassionate primary health care professional who has undergone post-graduate training to assess and treat pelvic floor dysfunction.

Pelvic health concerns can present in a variety of ways, whether you experience an involuntary loss of urine (in any amount), an overwhelming urge to urinate, increased frequency of urination, persistant pelvic pain or pelvic organ prolapse. These concerns may be due to variety of factors;

  • Weak pelvic floor muscles are responsible for Incontinence and pelvic organ prolapsed.
  • Tight pelvic floor muscles will contribute to Urgency, Pelvic Pain, Dyspareunia, Vaginismus, Vulvodynia, Interstitial Cystitis and Chronic Prostatitis.
